Overview

The Türkiye Citizenship by Investment Program grants full citizenship to the applicant and included family members in return for a qualifying investment, most commonly a real estate purchase of USD 400,000 held for three years. There is no residence requirement, no language test, and no interview. As a Turkish citizen, you gain visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to over 110 destinations including Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore; the right to live, work, study, and own property in a country with a mild Mediterranean climate, beautiful scenery, and a high standard of living; and eligibility for an E-2 Investor Visa in the USA after being domiciled in Türkiye for three years, valid for a five-year renewable period. Türkiye also offers access to a transcontinental Eurasian country that serves as a stable economic, financial, and political hub between Europe, Western Asia, and the Middle East.

Frequently asked

What is the Türkiye Citizenship by Investment Program?

It is a statutory route to Turkish citizenship for an investor and their family in exchange for a qualifying investment held in Türkiye for at least three years. Citizenship is granted by presidential decision once the investment is certified by the relevant ministry.

What investment options qualify?

Real estate, a fixed capital contribution, a deposit with a Turkish bank, government bonds, units in a real estate or venture capital investment fund, a contribution to a private pension system, each held for a minimum of three years, or the creation of employment for at least 50 people as confirmed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.

What is the minimum investment?

USD 400,000 for a real estate purchase, confirmed by an official appraisal. The other routes start at USD 500,000.

What are the benefits of Turkish citizenship?

Visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to around 110 destinations, the right to live, work, study, and own property in Türkiye, eligibility to apply for the US E-2 and UK Business Person visas, and a base between Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Citizenship is held for life and passes to your descendants.

How long does an application take?

Processing times vary with the investment route and the caseload of the authorities. Files completed through our Istanbul office typically conclude in four to six months. Speak to us for a realistic estimate on your circumstances.

Can family members be included?

Yes. The main applicant can include a spouse and dependent children under 18, who are naturalised at the same time on the same investment.

What documents are required?

A valid passport, proof of the qualifying investment, a clean criminal record certificate, birth and marriage certificates, biometric photographs, valid health insurance, and a Turkish tax number. Documents issued abroad must be legalised and translated.

What is the application process?

You select a qualifying investment, complete it and obtain the certificate of conformity from the responsible ministry, then file the residence permit and citizenship applications with the supporting documents. The file goes through due diligence before citizenship is approved and passports are issued.

Do I need to live in Türkiye?

No. There is no residence or language requirement. The only ongoing obligation is to hold the qualifying investment for three years.

Can I get my money back?

The investment is recoverable, not a donation. Property can be sold after three years at the prevailing market price, which may be above or below what you paid.
